AZ CPCU 2019 Scholarship Award Winners!

The AZ CPCU Chapter scholarship awards five outstanding students $1,000 each to be used toward school expenses for the fall 2019 semester.

Students must carry at least a 2.5 GPA and they must be pursuing a degree with an interest in the insurance industry through a variety of insurance related degrees.

Special thanks to Diane Scheidt, CPCU our Education Director and board for discovering these bright future insurance industry rock stars!

Hailey Walters, Arizona State University enrolled in the Master’s program in actuarial science. She was the youngest to graduate with her undergraduate in Actuarial Science and will be the first to graduate from the Master’s program in actuarial science.  While at ASU she was active in the Gamma Iota Sigma Kappa Chapter and was a past president.  She has interned with Nationwide and Allstate over the summers all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

 

Oswaldo Sanchez, Arizona State University enrolled in the mathematics program with an emphasis in statistics.  He has acquired his certificate in Analysis and Management of Risk at ASU.   He has interned at American Family as a claim adjuster.  He is interested in a career as an Actuary.  He in his Junior year and has a GPA of 3.02.  He has overcome some difficulties in the past and in focused on completing his studies and entering the insurance industry.

 

Dylan Ketcham, Arizona State University enrolled in the Actuarial program.   His mother inspired him to become interested in the insurance industry.  He is active in the Gamma Iota Sigma Kappa Chapter and is the current president, prior to serving as the diversity officer for the chapter.  He has interned with Nationwide over the summer and is enrolled in the Actuarial Science master 4+1 program.  He in his Junior year and has a GPA of 4.0.

 

Michelle Torbit, Arizona State University enrolled in the master’s program in actuarial science.   She has an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, but she found it unfulfilling.  She has just completed her Bachelor of Science in actuarial science.  She is active in the Gamma Iota Sigma Kappa Chapter and is the current diversity officer for the chapter.  She has interned with Mercer Government Human Services Consulting and Nationwide over the summers She currently has a GPA of 4.41.

 

Kinsey Turk, Arizona State University enrolled in the Actuarial program.   She is active in the Gamma Iota Sigma Kappa Chapter and is the current vice president.  She is a lso the Casualty Actuarial Society student ambassador.  She is serving as a mentor for younger students helping them with resumes and increased knowledge of the property casualty field.  She has interned with Nationwide Optumas Consulting over the summers and is enrolled in the Actuarial Science master 4+1 program.  She is in her Senior year and has a GPA of 3.98.
