We are excited to announce the 5 recipients of our Fall 2021 scholarships! Each of these well-deserving students will recieve a scholarship from the AZ CPCU Society Chapter to cover college expenses for the Fall 2021 term.
Kaitlyn Moorehead, Northern Arizona University. Kaitlyn is enrolled in the Risk Management and Insurance Program with a 3.94 GPA. Kaitlyn has been working since she was 12 as a pet sitter. She now works for Chick-Fil-A & has won 2 scholarships from Chick-Fil-A. She also works part time for the College of Business Career Development Office. She’s in the top 10% at the College of Business and was one of three students chosen to attend the PLRB (Property & Liability Resource Bureau) claims conference in Washington, D.C. last year. She is starting a Gamma Iota Sigma Chapter at NAU.
Isabelle Walsh, Arizona State University. Isabelle is enrolled in the Actuarial program & has a 4.0 GPA. She ranks in the top 1% of her class. She is active in the Gamma Iota Sigma Kappa Chapter & has has earned the title of D&I officer She is finishing both a bachelors and a master’s degree in 4 years. She started taking actuarial classes in high school which allows her to complete both degrees in four years. She has passed Exam P and Exam FM. Has an internship lined up with Centen. She will be in a writing competition in the fall.
Charlotte Cliatt, Arizona State University. She is enrolled in the Actuarial program with 4.0 GPA, ranking in the top 1% of her class. She is a member of the Geographic Information Science (GIS) program at ASU, an accelerated program that teaches concepts in spatial thinking and geographic problem solving, mathematical and statistical spatial modeling to use your knowledge base in geography and computer science skills to address urban, environmental and social issues. She has passed Exam P and Exam FM & she completed an honor project in 3 weeks when she had 15 weeks to do so.
Neil Bhardwaja, Arizona State University. Neil is enrolled in the Actuarial Science Master’s program with a 3.99 GPA. He ranks in the top 1% of his class. He is a committee member of the Gamma Iota Sigma Kappa Chapter, serving as Treasurer. He helps coordinate career fairs and resume building workshops & participated in the annual CAS Case Study Competition where his team won first place. He's completing the 4+1 program in actuarial science in 4 years instead of 5 (bachelors and master’s program). He has passed 2 actuarial exams. In the fall he will be starting his honors project and will participate in the WSIA White paper competition.
Hayley Osterkorn, Arizona State University. She is enrolled in the Actuarial Science program with a 3.83 GPA. She is an active member of the Gamma Iota Sigma Kappa Chapter at ASU. She's completing the 4+1 program in actuarial science in 4 years instead of 5 (bachelors and master’s program). She has passed 2 actuarial exams, Exam P and Exam FM, and is on track to graduate with at least 4 actuarial exams passed. She works for The ACT Lab -actuarial consulting lab on campus. She was part of a Case Study Competition in March which her team won. At the time of her application she had applied for a GIS officer position.
